🔍 What’s Happening in AI Search

Websites now need to serve both humans and AI agents

TechRadar’s interview with WordPress VIP’s CTO argues that websites increasingly have two audiences: human visitors and AI agents that retrieve, summarise, and compare information for users. Practical implication: small businesses should stop treating AI Visibility as a separate experiment. Clear service pages, structured answers, specific examples, and trustworthy proof now support both traditional customers and the AI systems that may introduce those customers.

AI traffic is becoming a separate audience for online information

TechRadar reports on Fastly analysis showing AI requests grew around 30% in the first five months of 2026, faster than human traffic, with AI crawlers and AI “fetches” behaving differently. The bigger picture is that people are relying more on AI tools to search, compare, and retrieve information from the internet. Practical implication: AI Visibility is no longer a nice-to-have. If AI becomes a common front door to discovery, small businesses need to work on how clearly they can be understood and recommended in AI-mediated searches.

🔮 Weekly Insight: How Small Businesses Can Use Reddit to Boost AI Visibility

Last week we looked at improving AI Visibility without a website and discussed how AI tools acquire information from public websites and resources: profiles, reviews, posts, directories, videos, and discussions.

This week, let's have a closer look at one very important source of informatio: Reddit. The point is simple: Reddit can help AI systems understand how real people talk about a problem, but only if your business behaves like a useful participant, not a disguised advert.

"On Reddit, trust is the visibility strategy."

Reddit matters because the conversations are specific and experience-based. People ask which product to buy, which service to avoid, what went wrong, and what they wish they had known earlier. That kind of detail rarely appears on a polished business website.

Reddit also matters because public discussion is visible to search and AI systems. Google says AI responses can include previews from public discussions and firsthand. OpenAI says its Reddit partnership gives ChatGPT access to Reddit content. That does not mean one comment will suddenly put your business into ChatGPT.

So here are some DOs and DON'Ts on how to leverage Reddit to become an AI Visibility driver for your business.

DOs:

  • Do listen before posting. Search Reddit for your service, city, customer problem, and competitor category. Save the phrases people actually use, especially complaints and comparison questions.

  • Do answer narrow questions properly. If someone asks how to choose a local accountant, explain what records to prepare, what fee structures to ask about, and when a specialist is needed.

  • Do turn repeated Reddit questions into clearer public content. If five threads ask whether a service is worth the cost, create a plain FAQ or case example on your website or profile.

DON’Ts.

  • Don’t spam, pretend to be a customer, or drop links into unrelated threads. Reddit communities notice quickly.

  • Don’t leave your Reddit profile vague if you participate as a business owner. Make the profile name, description, location, website, and expertise accurate.

  • Don’t copy and paste the same answer across threads. Tailor each reply to the question, mention limits or caveats, and avoid adding a link unless it genuinely helps.

Reddit is not a shortcut for AI Visibility. Instead, it is a listening room, a language map, and sometimes a place to show expertise.

AI presence is built slowly. The businesses that benefit will be the ones leaving clear, helpful evidence in public places before they expect results.

💻 Try This Yourself

Go to Reddit and search for one customer problem you help solve.

Open one useful thread and check three things:

  • the exact question people are asking

  • whether your Reddit profile clearly says who you are, where you work, and what you know

  • one helpful answer you could give without a sales pitch

Build a habit: answer the real question, mention caveats, and only link to your site if it genuinely helps and permitted in the community.

Do this two or three times a week, and Reddit becomes a regular listening and expertise practice.

If you're curious to look deeper into how AI search is changing the internet, these articles are worth a look.

“Google Zero” explains the pressure behind AI Visibility

Tom’s Guide explains “Google Zero,” the industry fear that AI answers reduce visits to original websites. For small businesses, the lesson is to track visibility beyond clicks: AI may shape customer choices before anyone lands on your site.

Inconsistent signals can weaken how AI represents a brand

Business Insider reports on a Semrush study where marketers linked AI search problems to fragmented messaging across websites, social, Reddit, YouTube, and news. It is vendor-backed, but the practical lesson is sound: keep your business description consistent across channels.
